Scent is a powerful thing. It can change a mood and inspire a memory. Perfume and fragrance smell different for every woman. It works with individual chemistry. No matter the perfume you wear, apply it in strategic places. It is most effective to apply perfume on pulse points. They are areas of the body in which blood vessels are near the skin’s surface. Pulse points are behind the ears, inside the elbows and wrists, and behind the knees.

  Ears

• One of the best places to apply perfume is behind the ears. Because this is a pulse point, perfume in this area tends to last longer than in other areas of the body. If the perfume is in a spray bottle, spray once behind each ear. If it is a strong scent, try half a spray behind each ear. If you have to apply to the skin with your fingers, dab just a little behind each ear.

Inside of Elbow

• Another spot to apply perfume is inside the elbows, another pulse point. The perfume will waft up, rather than overwhelming those around you. Apply one dab or spray on the inside of each elbow. Let it dry before putting on clothing.

Wrists

• The wrists are perfect for a softer perfume, as you will smell it often throughout the day. When spraying or dabbing perfume on the wrists, do not rub them together. It actually harms the scent. Let the perfume dry.

Behind the Knees

• Apply perfume behind the knees when you’re wearing a skirt or dress. It is another pulse point that will increase the power of the scent. Dab or spray the perfume behind both knees. Allow it to dry. It is a subtle spot for a heady fragrance. But if you are in a warm climate, sweating behind the knees can alter the fragrance.
