What Causes Wrinkles?

June 30, 2011 at 5:26 am (Anti Wrinkle Eye Cream) ()

It is a fact of life, we all get older, as we age we all look in the mirror and see the tell tale signs of the aging process appear before our eyes as we see yet another line on our face. Some welcome these lines and see them as recognition for the battles they’ve fought in life. Others are not so welcoming of them and want to do everything they can to prevent or delay this inevitable process. There are different types of wrinkles, we can’t stop them but there are steps that can be taken to help reduce the heaviness of them. Knowing what makes a wrinkle form is the first step to knowing what can be done to help reduce or delay them as much as possible.

Lip Wrinkles

Lip wrinkles are some of the least attractive that can develop with age. They appear as vertical lines that begin at the lips and go both up towards the nose and down towards the chin. Smoking and its subsequent vitamin C deficiency are some of the leading causes as well as a decrease in the body’s normal production of collagen as we age. Collagen is the body’s way of plumping and firming the skin, thus collagen injected directly into wrinkles is a common yet expensive treatment for lessening these types of wrinkles while a good anti aging cream is a less expensive yet still helpful option.

Forehead Wrinkles

Forehead wrinkles usually occur between the eyebrows either horizontally or vertically just above the nose. The horizontal lines across the forehead are easily the most noticeable and usually the first to appear, there are a number of causes from sun exposure to the standard aging process. Normal facial movements and repetitive expressions are arguably the leading cause. Squinting due to poor vision or not wearing sunglasses in the bright sun can certainly contribute to there early onset.

Crow’s Feet

Crow’s feet are wrinkles that spread out from the eye and take the shape of a crow’s foot, they form around the eyes and they are usually caused by excess squinting and the natural movements of the eyes, also extreme weather exposure. These wrinkles appear as deep lines that begin on the outside of the eye and work their way outwards anti aging creams are known to help.

Neck Wrinkles

Neck wrinkles commonly referred to as Venus’s Rings are horizontal lines that appear around the neck, again brought on by normal aging and the dreaded effect of gravity, too bad we all can’t live on the moon but we’d probably dry out due to the extreme winds and solar radiation. Severe weather exposure on a habitual basis is known to dry out the skin and aid in their formation so a good moisturizing anti aging cream is in order.

A good skincare regimen with an anti aging cream, a healthy diet and a happy active lifestyle can help to reduce the manifestation of facial lines,
blemishes and wrinkles. A little basic information about the skin and a desire to do something about wrinkles is all it may take for you to have long lasting youthful appearing skin. So do a little research, look up some wrinkle cream reviews online and be proactive with your facial care. Stress is a huge factor, so do what mum says and stop that frowning or your face might crack.

The Twenties Makeup Trends

June 28, 2011 at 1:20 am (Makeup) ()

Prior to 1920, wearing makeup could be a dangerous proposition. It contained chemicals such as lead, sulfur and mercury. Beyond the health risks, it was not proper for nice girls to wear makeup. Those who did wore pale, muted colors and their supplies were hidden away from disapproving fathers and husbands. Women who feared the consequences of wearing makeup often vigorously pinched their cheeks and lips to give them color. The flapper girl was a phenomenon of the 1920s. The term referred to young women who wore dresses that came to the knee, had short hair that was styled into a bob and who liked to listen to the new music of the time called Jazz. These women were the laddettes of their time. They went out drinking, liked to smoke and wore very striking make-up. The make-up usually consisted of bright red lipsticks and heavily made up eyes. This was particularly striking as the women tended to have very pale skin.

1920 Makeup Tips:

1. Eye Makeup: Eye Makeup trends were the most noticeable things about makeup during the 1920s. During this time, women generally wore little to no eyeliner. When it was worn, it was a very thin line that was worn thicker at each corner of the bottom eyelid. Dark eye shadow was worn on the top lid and did not usually go over the crease of the lid. Only one color was used, in comparison to the two to three that we normally use when creating a smoky eye shadow appearance.

2. Eyelash Makeup: Along with eye makeup, eyelash and eyebrow trends played a very important role in the overall flapper look. One of the many goals that flappers had during the 1920s with their appearance was to put emphasis on the eyelashes. To achieve this look, be sure to curl your eyelashes and apply mascara. Eyebrows were generally kept very long and quite thin.

3. Lip Makeup: Lip makeup also played a major role in the appearance of flappers during the 20s. The general trend was to use very bold lipstick colors, such as red. Lips were meant to look plump and a bit pouty. Use a lip liner to draw your top lip smaller than it really is and draws your bottom lip slightly shorter at each corner. Apply concealer in the areas where you ended your lips too short, so that they will blend in with your natural skin.

4. Nail Polish Makeup: Adorning the fingernails and toenails became widely popular with the invention of modern nail polish in 1920. Nails were extremely long and painted only in the middle. The tip and cuticle areas were left bare.

5. Face Powder Makeup: Face powder shifted from pale shades of cream and ivory to a more natural hue. Attitudes regarding the outdoors also shifted dramatically in the 1920s. It became socially desirable to be outdoors. When Coco Chanel fell asleep in the sun, the tan became a must-have.

1920s makeup underwent many changes. Manufacturers made advances in makeup formulas, packaging and color choice. Social attitudes toward makeup changed dramatically. No longer was it hidden away in women’s underwear drawers and applied in secret. Instead, women carried it in their purses and applied lipstick at the dinner table.

The Best Anti Wrinkle Eye Cream

June 27, 2011 at 2:01 am (Anti Wrinkle Eye Cream) ()

Finding the best anti wrinkle eye cream is not a simple matter. Few skin care products will have more of an impact on your appearance than an anti wrinkle eye cream. This is because, when we first look at someone, we usually look first at their eyes. It’s the first thing we notice. The skin around the eyes is also often the first area of the face to show signs of aging.

The best anti wrinkle eye cream is a type of wrinkle cream especially made to treat the area around the eyes, lessening the circles around them and minimizing the appearance of eye bags. Its primary goal is to make the skin around your eyes look smoother. It also tightens problem spots, restores the elasticity of the skin, and retains the youthful appearance of the skin. It acts like a natural moisturizer, protecting the delicate skin around the eyes from the marks of aging like wrinkles, and even eye bags.

Most of the anti wrinkle eye creams contain different kinds of replenishing oils to rejuvenate the skin cells around the eyes. They can also contain filters to prevent skin from harmful rays from the sun. Others also contain extracts such as chamomile, plantain and other fruit extracts to make the cream as organic and hypo-allergenic as possible. These ingredients are chosen specifically to avoid sensitive reactions around these areas such as redness, stinging sensations and itchiness. Unlike other type of creams, anti wrinkle eye creams contain no irritants since they are used in areas close to the eyes.

A thin layer of anti wrinkle eye cream should be applied to the skin around the eyes after cleansing the face and before putting on makeup. Some people use anti wrinkle eye creamas base before applying their makeup. The cream is applied in circular, patting motions around the eyes in order to allow faster skin absorption.

Some tips on hair care

June 25, 2011 at 8:10 am (Hair Care & Salon) ()

Brush Less to Limit Hair Loss

Don’t believe that myth about 100 brush strokes a day. Too much brushing will snap off hairs. Some hair loss is normal – most people lose an average of 50 to 100 hairs every day. These are hairs that have stopped growing and have reached the resting stage. To minimize additional hair loss, use a brush with ball-tipped bristles and avoid brushing while the hair is wet.

Avoid Styles that Damage Hair

Tight ponytails and braids can break off hair and damage the hair follicle. Continuous pulling can even lead to hair loss. Extensions add weight to the hair and also put pressure on the follicle. Dermatologists recommend wearing extensions for no more than three months. Also, be aware that wet hair is more fragile, so you shouldn’t put your hair in braids or a ponytail while it’s wet.

Don’t Let Brands Clean Your Wallet

What are you really getting for extra money spent on specialty products? They may contain natural botanicals, but that may not mean better style. Consumer Reports tested products on 1,700 ponytail samples and found that the more expensive shampoos didn’t perform better than cheaper ones. What is important: Choose shampoos and conditioners designed for your hair type, such as those for oily, fine, or color-treated hair.

Use Gentle Color to Cover Grays

Hair doesn’t only go gray as we get older – it also becomes weaker and grows more slowly. That means damaged hair won’t be snipped off as quickly by haircuts. Chemicals used on “mature” hair should be weaker to avoid damage, says dermatologist Zoe Draelos.

Neutralize Frizz in Winter, Too

Humidity gets the rap for causing frizzy bad hair days. But there’s more static electricity in low humidity. This means frizz also flies in winter months and in the desert climates of the Southwest. Use conditioner to neutralize the static electricity. Shampoos that are pH-balanced also can calm the frizz of chemically treated hair.

Keep Brushes Away from Your Curls

Curly hair is more likely to break and become dry and brittle. Gently using a pick keeps curls looking better than combing or brushing. Conditioners with polymers such as polyvinylpyrrolidone can smooth hair and make it more manageable. Don’t overdo the use of flat-irons and relaxers, which can damage hair.

Avoid Extreme Color Changes

Perhaps you’re a brunette who always wanted to be a blonde, or a blonde who wants to go darker. Be aware that you’re risking damage to your hair with more extreme color changes. Some dermatologists recommend staying within three shades of your natural color.

Fashion Natural Skin Care For Men

June 25, 2011 at 1:28 am (Natural Skin Care For Men) ()

Generally, men do not take especially good care of their skin. Mostly they shave their stubble off in the morning, apply some aftershave and that’s just about it.Some take it a step further and apply a moisturizer or toning gel after completing their shaving routine, but very few realize that taking good care of their skin is much more important than that.
You see, the integrity of the skin is vitally important to prevent harmful substances and micro-organisms from penetrating through the natural barrier of the skin. Few men realize that the integrity of the skin is compromised by shaving. Shaving removes the natural barrier function of the skin and allows potentially harmful ingredients and micro-organisms to pass through the skin, while nicks and cuts open the pathway into the blood stream.
Even when using an electric shaver, the skin is inflicted with microscopic nicks and cuts (they don’t have to bleed), which compromises the integrity of the skin. The process of shaving removes not only the protective acid mantel of the skin, but in addition, shaving removes several of the most superficial skin layers including some living skin cell layers and this renders the skin vulnerable.
This vulnerability is not just limited to attack from micro-organisms either. Once the natural barrier of the skin has been compromised, molecules that would otherwise have been excluded are now able to penetrate the skin and enter into the deeper layers of the skin and potentially the bloodstream.
Natural skincare for men that only contain safe, effective and 100% natural ingredients such as essential oils and herbal extracts will reduce this risk. Essential oils are known to have very powerful antiseptic effects, which help to keep micro-organisms from penetrating through the compromised skin and thus prevent infection and inflammation of the skin. Together with herbal extracts, these types of ingredients soothe, nourish and protect the skin and prevent dust, micro-organisms, etc., from entering the deeper layers of the skin.
In addition, using only safe and natural ingredients insures that potentially toxic ingredients, commonly found in men’s skin care products, are not a threat – simply because they’re contained in the products.
One also has to be mindful of the fact that no matter what type of razor is used, a range of bacteria and other micro-organisms will always be present on the blade, even a brand new blade. It is therefore very easy to introduce these organisms into the bloodstream. In most cases, the body’s immune system will handle this quickly and effectively, but by adding dangerous chemicals, contained in most commercially available skincare and shaving products, into the equation the skin can be adversely affected.
We are seeing an increase in skin sensitivities being reported by men that on closer examination frequently turn out to be allergic reactions to ingredients in the skin care products they are using. We have seen that once they start using 100% natural skin care products and follow a systematic skin care approach, these sensitivities tend to become less and their skin generally becomes healthier.
Specifically formulated natural skin care products for men are not jet commonly available, however, it is worth the effort to identify such products in order to avoid causing unnecessary skin problems and potentially dangerous skin infections.
Danny Siegenthaler is a doctor of traditional Chinese medicine and together with his wife Susan, a medical herbalist and Aromatherapist, they have created Natural Skin Care Products by Wildcrafted Herbal Products to share their 40 years of combined expertise with you. Take a look at their 100% natural skincare products for men.
